Rounded Rectangle: The Diner

A real working 50’s town

Angel's Diner is a working diner that features Cheese Burgers, Breaded Tenderloins, Fries, Malts, Milkshakes, Phosphates, and Banana Splits.  It is an authentic 50s diner from the Stainless Steel exterior to the Checkerboard floor interior with tables, booths, counters, Jukeboxes, and Pinball machines.

Angel's is dedicated to the men and women of World War II, whom Jim feels comprised the greatest generation or people ever on this earth.  It is because of their bravery and sacrifices that we enjoy the freedoms that we have today.  On a wall is a photo of Jim's Dad, William Lee Richardson, a WWII veteran, and the photo of Jim's Mother, Ronela Mae Richardson, that William carried with him all his life.

Also featured are uniforms and autographed pictures of war heroes like Brigadier General Paul W. Tibbets, Flying Tiger Pilots, and others.  Then Colonel Tibbets was the aircraft commander of the Enola Gay, the B-29 Superfortress named after his mother, that dropped the first Atomic Bomb on Hiroshima, Japan that, along with the bomb dropped on Nagasaki three days later, ended the war.  Framed are the Enola Gay declassification papers, issued 50 years after the event, copied from General Tibbets originals.

Angel's Diner was named for a long-time, loved and trusted friend, Joan Bontrager.  Who, with her mother, was killed in an auto accident.

Angel's is fun, delicious, nostalgic, and historic; and, in many ways, it is the heart of Summer Place.  You want fries with that?
